POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Media Marketing Associate will help create daily social media content that will increase engagement with the products Diamond distributes and drive traffic to comic book shops. This position reports directly to the Consumer Marketing Manager and will work closely with Marketing and Purchasing teams to create social content that supports Diamond’s websites and various other efforts.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is familiar with Social Media channels and trends, is passionate about comic books, graphic novels, toys and other pop-culture products, and can truly relate our products to real time events. The role includes raising awareness of our products through cross-platform social media content, as well as driving brand-building social media efforts, building content calendars, managing internal deliveries and publishing day-to-day content. This position will also be responsible for reporting and managing the social analytics behind our efforts; moderating all channels and guiding conversations; and identifying social trends within and outside of company channels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Publishes daily content for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram (includes copywriting and image sourcing) as well as other social media sites using native platforms as well as other publishing tools such as Hootsuite
  • Writes social copy that is representative of the products we have an invested interest in selling
  • Prepares reports/case studies on usage statistics and successes
  • Works with marketing team members on social media projects, incorporating marketing plans as they may apply, driving audience building and engagement in social spaces
  • Acts as moderator for all channels by interacting with fans, answering questions, and starting conversations
  • Has the ability to spot trends and create unique stories around trending searches
  • Is resourceful and creative when it comes to developing content from limited assets, can repurpose content from other marketing efforts
  • Works with Editorial and Marketing teams to support products, website initiatives, and develop new ideas
  • Creates content calendars to optimize posting across all social channels and ensures coordination with ongoing marketing calendars
  • Stays up to date on social media industry news and changes within each platform
  • All other duties as assigned


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • 1-3 years working in Social Media or Digital Communications space
  • Bachelor’s Degree in new media, social media, marketing, or journalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong copywriting skills
  • Working knowledge of social network channels, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Pinterest, and LinkedIn
  • Familiarity with Hootsuite, and other 3rd party social media applications
  • Familiarity with reviewing social analytics, as well as Google analytics
  • Knowledge of comics, graphic novels, toys and other pop-culture products is essential
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask in constantly evolving social space
  • Knowledge of online content management systems
  • Adobe Photoshop, photo re-sizing skills, image creation
  • Additional Adobe software experience: Dreamweaver, Acrobat, etc., preferred
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computers and programs (Microsoft Excel and Word is essential)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects at once
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
