POSITION TITLE:  Business Intelligence Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for assisting the Data Integration and Business Intelligence departments with development, maintenance and support of new and existing applications to include all aspects of Microsoft Office including Excel, Access and Power BI.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Creation of real-time dashboards, custom data sets and reports from existing data sets using Excel, PowerPivot, PowerQuery and Microsoft Power BI.
  • Create SQL views that will allow users to see and interact with data as seamlessly as possible.
  • Ensure the self-service BI data is valid, refreshed and available to users at all times.
  • Responsible for identifying as many data sources within the organization that Power Query users will need to access and creating applications to display this data with accuracy and clarity.
  • Responsible for creation and enforcement of naming conventions to ensure organization of Power BI queries and dashboards.   
  • Acts as the main point of contact between the IT department and the power business users for determination of security.  Works closely with IT to grant and revoke permissions to dashboards and reports.  
  • Responsible for testing and creation of user documentation/help for the Vendor Website. 
  • Responsible for testing and creation of user documentation for Vendor Scorecard data as well as integration of this data into the Vendor Website and Power BI.  
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 

  • Proficiency with all aspects of Microsoft Office is a must, including Access and Excel
  • Ability to write sql statements to create proper views on the SQL server
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills and ability to work on multiple projects with overlapping timelines
  • Ability to research errors and find their source in order to prevent further occurrences 
  • Ability to keep track of multiple data rules yet determine when exceptions are acceptable 
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly and easily adapt to changes in existing procedure
  • Ability to recognize minute differences in data
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Sharepoint knowledge a plus
