POSITION SUMMARY:

The Advertising and Public Relations Associate performs a variety of public relations, marketing, and promotional tasks for Diamond while assisting in the coordination and promotion of Diamond’s two annual retailer events.  The AD/PR Associate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining media relations, sending out both product and corporate news press releases, and generating written content for websites and social media for Diamond’s annual retailer events—Free Comic Book Day and Halloween ComicFest. Additional duties include trafficking and scheduling ads for Diamond’s print and online publications, as well as updating various Diamond websites and e-newsletters with news and content, processing consumer promotions, and other miscellaneous tasks. Reports to the Advertising & Promotions Manager.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Write advertising/ PR copy for Diamond’s products and services for both b-to-b and b-to-c.
  • Schedule and track all press releases for Diamond, its products and services.
  • Build and maintain Diamond’s multiple media relations listings to ensure best possible outreach and news coverage.
  • Assist in various aspects of coordinating and promoting Free Comic Book Day and Halloween ComicFest annual events.
  • Traffic all print and online ads for Diamond from publishers and vendors. Schedule ads, maintain accurate records, and assist in billing of advertising and services to vendors.
  • Responsible for content management of various parts of Diamond’s websites, including diamondcomics.com, freecomicbookday.com, halloweencomicfest.com, and all associated social media.
  • Assist in creation of emails and e-newsletters.
  • Assist with coordination and tracking of promotions and sweepstakes to consumers.
  • Additional writing duties as assigned.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of online content management systems and social media
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computers and programs (Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Adobe Dreamweaver skills preferred for HTML email design and creation
  • Adobe Photoshop, photo re-sizing skills
  • 1-2 years of public relations or marketing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of comics and related subjects is preferred.
  • Willing to work overtime as needed.
