POSITION TITLE: Sales Manager                                 

DEPT: Diamond Book Distributors

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sales Manager is responsible for all facets of national accounts management, from sales to co-op promotional marketing, as well as managing key publisher relations. This position requires some travel, the ability to self-motivate, a professional demeanor, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task and excellent problem solving skills. BOOKMARKET & POP CULTURE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for sales into the independent bookstore market, managing commission sales reps throughout the country.
  • Responsible for marketing support into the independent bookstore market, including Shelf-Awareness, IndieBound, Netgalley, Edelweiss, Winter Institute and regional trade shows.
  • Responsible for sales into specialty markets and non-traditional book channels.
  • Responsible for selling to one national account.
  • Assisting in the selling of remainders/hurts/overstock to book market accounts.
  • Responsible for managing the DBD relationship with select client publishers.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum college degree or equivalent. 
  • Computer skills a must, knowledge of Outlook and Excel required. 
  • Knowledge of pop culture and book market industry required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required.
  • Sales experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of DBD services, policies and systems a plus.
  • Attention to detail. 
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
