POSITION TITLE:  Graphic Novel Marketing Associate

DEPT:  Marketing

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Graphic Novel Marketing Associate is responsible for developing and overseeing projects to market and promote Diamond Book Distributors’ graphic novels and products to independent bookstores, schools and libraries. Candidate will oversee content for two of Diamond’s websites and social media channels, as well as aid in the marketing and promotion of upcoming titles.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop marketing and advertising plans in conjunction with Diamond’s Book Distributor (DBD) division to promote and sell graphic novels to the bookstore library and school markets.
  • Maintain and promote DBD’s website that is geared towards wholesale buyers and independent bookstore retailers.
  • Write and edit DBD’s monthly e-newsletter to promote comics and graphic novels to independent bookstores. Manage subscribers and grow subscriber base.
  • Participate in discussions & planning for independent bookstore business with an eye towards developing key marketing and promotions.
  • Assist with production of DBD’s online catalogs, sales kits, and sell sheets
  • Maintain and promote Diamond’s BookShelf website geared towards educating teachers and librarians about comics and graphic novels.
  • Manage and edit annual BookShelf Magazine with articles, reviews and other essential information promoting graphic novels.
  • Participate in independent bookstores functions (i.e. BEA, Winter Institute, regional shows)
  • Assist in managing Edelweiss, and book trade marketing platform such as Shelf Awareness & Net Galley.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • Previous experience with bookstores, libraries or schools helpful.
  • Professional writing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of content management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of comics and related subjects.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computers and programs (Microsoft Excel and Word is essential).
  • Familiarity with Adobe products include Photoshop and Dreamweaver helpful.
  • Willing to work additional hours as needed.
