Inventory Analyst (DCD)

 

LOCATION:  Home Office – Hunt Valley, Maryland  

POSITION:  Inventory Analyst

DEPARTMENT:  Order Processing

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinates the accomplishment of inventory management activities, including but not limited to: moving stock between distribution centers to insure appropriate inventory levels; identifying items with excessive inventory levels and working with Vendors and Brand Managers as to the disposition of same; setting and maintaining stocking levels on permanently stocked items; making firm recommendations to purchasing management as to items to be re-solicited in Diamond’s catalog or to be included in special sales incentives, and programs aimed at reducing inventory carrying cost to prescribed levels; and providing the appropriate inventory reports to middle and upper management. 

The qualified applicant will develop strong working relationships withpurchasingbrand managers, operations regional managers, and the order processing department.  He/she will work with all three of these groups to create and maintain cohesive inventory management procedures and reporting.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create, institute and maintain structured inventory management procedures that include:    
    • Monitoring and maintaining inventory high and low levels at all inventory hubs.
    • Auditing initial stocking levels of new items.
    • Auditing sell through on initial purchases of inventory extras.
    • Working with all interested parties to dispose of slow moving and dead stock.
    • Work with thesalesdepartment to create new programs aimed at increasing thesalesvelocity on stocked items.
    • Work withpurchasingand order processing to refine procedures for insuring that we have adequate stock of consignment and brokerage “evergreen” skus.
  • Periodically reviewspurchasing,sales, and inventory reports to assure that procedures are having the desired effect on the company’s stocking position.
  • Makes recommendations to supervisor and the VP ofpurchasingas to changes in stocking strategies for various groups of items.
  • Coordinates the movement of inventory among various facilities to best meet customer demand.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports with respect to:     
    • Sales velocity
    • Inventory position
    • Remarketing (Offered again) of selected inventory items
    • Liquidationsales
    • Remaindering and destruction of dead stock.
    • Out of stock items.
  • Works closely withpurchasingupper management to analyze inventory position, and to resolve problem situations.  (Overstocking and under stocking.)
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Use Microsoft Access to create data files necessary to process specialized vendor-sponsored promotions; including manipulating incentive quantities and discounts
  • Provide market research and sales reporting upon request for both Diamond Comic Distributors, Inc. and its sister companies.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Extensive experience using MS Excel and MS Access.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Good organizational skills a must.
  • Strong phone manner, communication follow-through and negotiation skills a must.
