Diamond Introduces New Widget for Retailer Website

Comic shops can now alert customers of new titles and orders on their website and Facebook page.
During the 2014 Retailer Summit, Diamond Comic Distributors announced the “New Releases” widget which gives comic shop retailers the ability to alert customers of the latest titles and items in their stores with customized lists. The Widget will be available for retailers to install on their websites and Facebook accounts starting Wednesday May 21, 2014.
The widget generates a new releases web page of titles with graphics for the current on-sale week, and allows them to display up to three weeks of previous releases for reference. Retailers can select what is displayed on the web page by utilizing the Edit Items function -- which shows a complete list of titles and items for the selected week – and using a slider to flag each title or item with a “Yes” or “No” as to whether or not they want certain items available to view on their website. Once they customize the widget, retailers can employ three options for HTML code to add it to their websites that include display of comics only, non-comics only, or show all items for the specified week.
Retailers can also elect to display up to five columns of items, along with site colors, and can preview what they will look like onscreen. They can also prevent Mature Readers (MR) items from being displayed by utilizing a convenient checkbox. (The Mature Readers option is the default option for the widget, and is automatically checked.)

The widget will be available to download on Wednesday May 21 from the new Online Tools sub-menu of the Diamond Tools page on Diamond’s Retailer Services Website.
