Diamond Announces Top Products For October 2011
(BALTIMORE, MD) — (November 4, 2011) — The Flash joins forces with Batman, Green Lantern, and Superman to battle Apokalips' Parademons in Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's Justice League #2 from DC Comics, the best-selling comic book in October, according to information provided by Diamond Comic Distributors, the world's largest distributor of comics, graphic novels, and pop culture merchandise.
Driven by the strong sales on Justice League and the other titles of DC Comics: The New 52, DC Comics was October's leading publisher, accounting for 42.47% of the month's retail dollars and 50.97% of the month's total units sold.
October was a strong month for comics sales, as sales increased by 6.78% over September and 24.37% over the previous October. Overall, print sales increased over September by 2.67% and 11.93% over the previous October.
The collected hardcover edition of Flashpoint, the mini-series by Geoff Johns and Andy Kubert which led to the relaunch of the DC Universe, was October's best-selling graphic novel.
McFarlane Toys released The Walking Dead Comic Series 1 Action Figures, bringing to life the characters of Robert Kirkman's acclaimed zombie apocalypse comic series, giving the manufacturer the best-selling Toy product to specialty retailers in October.
The Man of Steel joins the HeroClix game as WizKids/NECA released the DC HeroClix: Superman Booster Brick in October, the month's top selling Games product to specialty retailers.

Data for Diamond’s sales charts — which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts — are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 comic book specialty shops located in North America and around the world. The account base includes brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, Internet merchants, and other specialty stores.
Unit and dollars sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, which comprises initial pre-orders, advance reorders, and reorders, minus any copies that are received back from a title marked as returnable.
Please note that comics marked with an asterisk have had their reported quantities reduced due to retailer returnability, and thus may rank lower on the charts than their actual sales would reflect.
