Diamond Comic Distributors Announces Top Toys and Toy Manufacturers for 2012
(BALTIMORE, MD) — (January 10, 2013) — DC Collectibles' Batman: Arkham City Series 2 Action Figures, a series of action figures based on Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment's best-selling video game Batman: Arkham City, were the best-selling Toy product distributed to direct market specialty retailers according to Diamond Comic Distributors, the world’s largest distributor of comics, graphic novels, and pop-culture merchandise.
Diamond Select Toys was 2012's leading Toy manufacturer distributed through Diamond Comic Distributors taking 26.63% of the dollars invoiced and 51.97% of the total toy units shipped to retailers. DC Collectibles was 2012's number two manufacturer with 23.76% of the dollars invoiced and 20.19% of the units shipped.
Diamond Select Toys saw success with their Marvel Select Figures, with three of the high-end action figures in the year's top twenty. Their best-selling toy for the year was the Marvel Select: Spider-Man Action Figure at #3, followed by the Marvel Select: Amazing Spider-Man Movie Action Figure, based on the new film, at #7.
Bowen Designs' Thor Classic Action Statue was the year's best-selling statue and ranked #20 for the year among all toy-related products.
The best-selling import toy for 2012 was Square-Enix's Batman: Arkham Asylum Play Arts ~KAI~: Harley Quinn Action Figure, based on the best-selling video game Batman: Arkham Asylum, which ranked #9 for the year among all toy-related products.
