Top 100 Comics: June 2013
The Man of Steel faces one of his greatest challenges in Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's Superman Unchained #1 from DC Entertainment, the best-selling comic book to retailers in June.
In total, DC Entertainment had four of the month's top books. Greg Pak and Jae Lee's Batman/Superman #1 ranked #2. The "Batman: Zero Year" storyline kicked off in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's Batman #21. And in Justice League #21, the month's #6 book, the build-up to the Trinity War continued.
Marvel Comics rounded out the top ten with six titles, led by Brian Michael Bendis' Age of Ultron #10, the shocking conclusion to Marvel's spring crossover event, at #4. Age of Ultron #9, the penultimate issue of the storyline, ranked #5. Dan Slott had two issues of Superior Spider-Man in the top ten; issue #11 ranked #7 and issue #12 ranked #8. All-New X-Men #12 ranked #9. Finally, Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.'s Kick-Ass 3 #1 ranked #10.
Among the premier publishers, Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead #111 from Image Comics ranked #13 for the month.
Brian Wood and Carlos D'Anda's Star Wars #6 from Dark Horse Comics ranked #45.
Finally, based on the top-rated animated series, IDW Publishing's My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic #8 ranked #66.

How does Diamond calculate the charts? It all starts at the comic book shop.
Data for Diamond’s sales charts – which include the monthly market shares and all top product charts – are compiled by Diamond Comic Distributors from a universe of over 3,500 accounts, comprised of comic book specialty shops and other merchant stores and buyers. The shops are primarily located in North America, with a percentage of sales also to international stores and buyers located throughout the world. The account base includes not only brick-and-mortar comic book specialty shops, but also Internet stores, chain stores, and other specialty stores.
Unit and dollars sales are calculated based upon orders invoiced and shipped to Diamond accounts during any given month, minus any copies that are distributed free of cost.
About the Diamond Sales Index: The Sales Index of selected monthly Best Seller Charts is presented as a comparative tool for retailers and publishers. It presents Diamond’s monthly sales for individual titles in relation to Diamond’s total sales for the issue of DC Comics' monthly Batman comic book. (Batman is used as the control title – with a value of 100 – because sales of Batman usually remain relatively stable.) This allows for easy comparison to other titles and helps retailers gauge their orders for all other titles. This formula is only a guide, other factors may impact a titles’ ability to sell in certain locations and clientele.
