From The Scoop: Hake's Obtains Great Lunch Boxes
From the August 26 issue of Gemstone Publishing's The
Scoop:
Hake's Americana & Collectibles recently acquired a sizable lunchbox collection from Senator Phil Arthurhultz, a respected collector and dealer. With auction #185, Hake's begins to offer some of this 400+ piece collection.
Senator Phil Arthurhultz is a 16-year veteran of the Michigan State Senate and the Majority Floor Leader. First elected in 1982 and re-elected five times, Arthurhultz is the longest serving Majority Leader in Michigan history. Currently, Arthurhultz hosts a popular daily talk show on WJIM-AM in Lansing. An avid collector and dealer, he began by gathering a few jukeboxes, pinball machines, and a Coke machine. He later branched out to collecting character merchandise of the 1950s and procured his first lunchbox, a Roy Rogers. Eventually, Phil's lunch box collection became one of the nations best, in terms of both condition and rarity. While he kept a few favorites, Hake's will be offering the vast majority in this and future auctions.
Hake's Americana auction #185 closes September 20-22. To order the auction catalog and to register to bid, visit www.hakes.com or call toll free (866) 404-9800 ext. 443.
