CrossGen Launches Comics on the Web Version 3.0
CrossGen Entertainment (CGE) has announced that it has launched Comics
on the Web Version 3.0, the second enhanced version of its online
subscription content service that has generated thousands of members, dozens of
Internet partner sites, and Spanish- and Korean-language companion
sites.
Furthermore, CrossGen revealed it has signed an agreement with America Online (AOL), establishing an AOL Keyword for the publisher. AOL Keyword: CrossGen will drive more traffic to the CGE website while simultaneously providing hundreds of pages of free comics content to AOL members.
Comics on the Web Version 3.0 features an easier-to-use interface, with said interface and content also being available in Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Japanese. In addition, a key shift from one-bit to two-bit language support enables CrossGen to incorporate character-sets from Asian languages into the online service. Other features include:
• Alternate audio track support including voice-overs and creator commentary;
• Asian language support;
• Automatic balloon movement synced with audio tracks;
• New Code 6 titles, including Brian Pulido's Lady Death and R.A. Salvatore's DemonWars;
• Shortened movement from in-store dates to online release for titles, reduced from six to three months.
CrossGen also revealed it has established a partnership with South Korea's ecomix (http://www.ecomix.co.kr/fantasy/genre/?section=fantasy) and a Germany-based portal partner (http://www.comicsontheweb.com/cow/cow.frameset.asp).
"With sites ringing the world, a partnership with AOL, and a whole new site fueled by nearly 350 issues, we're honored to help bring comics to new audiences," said CGE Director of Information Technology Courtland Whited. "The key to making it all work is quality comics, and no matter the medium, that will always be at the center of CrossGen."
