Metalocalypse Dawns As Dethklok Debuts At Dark Horse

As Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse gears up for a new season this month, Dark Horse Comics checks in with the members of everyone’s favorite black-metal band in Dethklok #1, the start of a three-issue limited series.

Viewers of the hit Adult Swim series made the band’s comic-book debut in Dark Horse’s Dethklok vs. The Goon a blasting success. The involvement of Metalocalypse co-creators Brendon Small & Jon Schnepp as writers (with Jeremy Barlow) on the limited series should keep those fires burning for this tale of “the most brutal black-metal band on the planet and the world’s seventh-largest economy.”

Dethklok’s five members are fated to bring about the Metalocalypse. But after several sponsorship deals collapse, the band creates a line of frozen meals in order to reclaim their throne... that is, if they aren’t undone by a) the mysterious tribunal sworn to destroy them and b) their own stupidity.

Illustrated by Lucas Marangon, the 40-page, full-color debut is scheduled to ship on October 6 with a cover by Eric Powell. Collectors should ask their retailer about the rare Schnepp Variant Cover.
