POSITION TITLE:  Parts Molding/Casting/Finishing Technician

REPORTS TO:  Director

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles, LLC (DST) is seeking a Molding, Casting and Finishing Technician to join our staff. The Technician will play an active role in our organization, ensuring every part we produce looks exactly the way it is supposed to. With the possibility to advance within the organization, we are looking for a team player who never misses the fine details on a project, can prioritize on the fly, and understand what it takes to make something look its absolute best.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Sanding, priming, painting, and/or other advanced finishing techniques on both 3D printed parts and urethane/resin castings to meet project specific requirements;
  • Capable application of automotive grade primers and finishes;
  • Management of silicone rubbers and molding process for the casting and duplication of urethane/resin parts;
  • Mastery of both matrix molds and common box mold set up (set-up, pouring and opening);
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement;
  • Ability to patch, glue, fix or fabricate parts as needed;
  • Utilizing established finishing techniques to perfect master patterns;
  • Must be able to consistently remove 3D Printed “Build Lines” without sacrificing detail;
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods, as well as bend and stoop to work with materials associated with molding, casting and finishing;
  • Must be able to pull, push and lift up to 30 pounds;
  • Various projects and other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Skills – Must be able to rapidly create molds for prototype development and generate multiple castings needed for tooling patterns and paint-master ready levels of quality. Able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet challenging deadlines with minimal supervision. Applicants must also have a strong attention to detail, and good communication skills.
  • Education – Minimum High School Diploma preferred. References of professional prototyping and development experience being optimal.
  • Availability – Ability to work Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM, with occasional evening and weekend hours as workload demands.
  • Helpful Experience – Though not required, ability to use a waxer for sculpture and parts prep for finishing. Previous experience with product development, sanding, painting and color matching, sculpting, 3D printing, model kit assembly, parts prep, is preferred (particularly in prototyping and low-volume production settings).  Also, experience working with Entertainment properties, developing traditional toy and collectible products (action figures, Resin Statues, etc.), fabrication or kit building background preferred.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility – Capable of handling a constantly shifting set of priorities and often challenging timelines.
