POSITION TITLE:   Graphic Novel Marketing Associate                                            

DEPT: Marketing

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and working with other departments within Marketing, the GN Marketing Associate will be responsible for developing and overseeing projects to market and promote comics and graphic novels for Diamond Comic Distributors, Diamond Book Distributors as well as to teachers, educators, librarians, and school and library system buyers through Diamond BookShelf.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and promote Diamond’s BookShelf website that is geared towards educating teachers and librarians about comics.
  • Write BookShelf monthly e-newsletter to promote comics and graphic novels to teachers and librarians.
  • Manage and edit BookShelf printed publication with articles, reviews and other essential information promoting graphic novels.
  • Maintain and promote Diamond’s kidscomics.com website.
  • Develop marketing and advertising plans in conjunction with Diamond’s Book Distributor (DBD) division to promote and sell graphic novels to the bookstore market and to library and school systems.
  • Maintain and promote DBD’s website that is geared towards wholesale buyers and retailers.
  • Produce DBD’s bi-annual catalogs, as well as specific sell sheets promoting upcoming products and projects.  Also manage printed DBD Kids catalog on a bi-annual basis.
  • Lead and coordinate Diamond’s involvement in promoting comics and graphic novels with Maryland State Department of Education.
  • Create project materials and marketing plans for Diamond’s Comics in the Classroom program.
  • Maintain backlist of literary and educational reviews on graphic novels
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Two years of professional writing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of comics and related subjects is essential.
  • Previous experience as a teacher and/or educator helpful.
  • Previous experience with bookstores, libraries or schools helpful.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at once.
  • Knowledge of Windows-based computers and programs (Microsoft Excel and Word is essential).
  • Willing to work additional hours as needed.
