Bandai Entertainment, Diamond Sign Exclusive Booktrade Agreement

Bandai Entertainment Inc. has selected Diamond Book Distributors as the exclusive North American distributor of its manga to various markets.

Bandai Entertainment Inc. is the premier distributor of Japanese animation on DVD home video and leading Japanese animated licensed programming for television broadcast distribution in North America. In January 2006, the multimedia entertainment corporation announced the formation of a publishing division to be launched in April with its first manga Eureka SeveN. Future projects include full color “film manga” adaptations of popular anime series like Cowboy BeBop and Samurai Champloo. Recently, Bandai announced a partnership with Top Cow Productions to publish a series of manga-sized digest collections of two of Top Cow's most popular franchises, Witchblade and Tomb Raider.

“The name Bandai is synonymous with excellence,” said Diamond Vice President of Purchasing Bill Schanes. “They've proved that time and again with their quality DVD titles -- and since their parent company is one of the world's largest multimedia corporations, we are eager to partner with them.”

“Bandai Entertainment, and the company overall, has a long standing relationship with Diamond and we are excited to be working with Diamond Books to bring our new publishing line to the mass and direct market,” said Manga Editor Robert Napton.
