Alan Moore Tribute Book Raises Over $36,000 For Charity
On Thursday, April 1, it was announced that the tribute book, Alan
Moore: Portrait of an Extraordinary Gentlemen (STAR20310F) raised over
$36,000 for Alzheimer's charities since its publication in 2003. The statement
came from Gary Spencer Millidge, Smoky Man, and Omar Martini, who edited the
book for publisher Abiogenesis Press.
The massive 352-page trade paperback features strips, stories, essays, and illustrations from Terry Gilliam, Michael Moorcock, Neil Gaiman, Will Eisner, and many others, all in celebration of British comics-writing legend, Alan Moore's 50th birthday.
All publisher profits and artist royalties from the book have been donated to the following Alzheimer charities, with pre-tax profits to date totaling the equivalent of $36,854.45:

AIMA: The Italian Association for Alzheimer's (Please Note: This site is presented in Italian.)
The Abiogenesis version of the book sold out of its first printing in just a few weeks and a limited second printing (with a number of minor text corrections) was produced in November 2003. While supplies are now limited, copies are still available through Diamond, but there are no plans for any further reprints -- confirm yours today!
