Spider-Man Joins the FF
Avengers, New Avengers, and now…the FF? Marvel Comics has announced that in the pages of the upcoming FF #1 (JAN110748D, $3.99) from writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Steve Epting, Spider-Man, one of the hardest working super-heroes in comics, will join this all-new team.
After the death of the Human Torch, the surviving members of the Fantastic Four – Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman & Thing – join with Spider-Man and some top secret members to form an unstoppable force: The Future Foundation. Their mission is simple: save the Marvel Universe from its greatest threats and prevent future dangers from arising. But even with knowledge of what’s to come and one of the most powerful teams ever assembled, just what villainous force could stand in their way?
This news is already sweeping across the internet, with mainstream news sources and comic blogs all taking notice. The New York Times, for example, is already spotlighting the announcement with their article “It’s Collaboratin’ Time: Spider-Man to Join the Fantastic Four,” in which Hickman and Marvel’s Senior Vice President of Publishing Tom Brevoort provided their thoughts on what this new direction means for the remnants of Marvel’s First Family. This press could translate into additional interest in FF #1 when it goes on sale.
“FF will alter the very fabric of the Marvel Universe,” explained Brevoort. “Jonathan and Steve have crafted a unique, powerful new series that’s going to surprise a lot of fans with its combination of mind-blowing ideas and visuals.”
As a reminder, Marvel previously announced plans for a Welcome to the FF Party on Wednesday, March 23rd to celebrate the release of FF #1. Filled with exclusive offerings, including limited edition variant covers, these Welcome to the FF Parties are sure to bring excitement to your stores!
