DC to Brand All-Ages Titles with Johnny DC

This July, DC Comics' mascot, Johnny DC, will make its first comic book appearance in years on the cover of DC's Teen Titans Go! #1 FCBD Edition (APR040018J). The issue will mark the start of a comeback for the character, which will appear on DC's all-ages titles beginning with books solicited in the July Previews.

The new version of the character was designed by noted designer and illustrator Rian Hughes.

“We're working hard to make comics that are fun for new and younger readers,” said DC Vice President - Editorial Dan DiDio. “We are introducing the new Johnny DC as the mascot of the kids' line to host the newly reinstated letters pages that encourage kids to write in and interact with our characters.”

“I'm a huge fan of Rian's work, and he's really outdone himself with this design,” said DC Editorial Art Director Mark Chiarello. “The new Johnny DC has a bright, distinctive look that will really stand out in the stores.”

The July-solicited titles that Johnny DC will appear on include: Batman Strikes #1, Cartoon Cartoons Block Party #1, Justice League Unlimited #1, Looney Tunes #118, Powerpuff Girls #54, Scooby-Doo #88, and Teen Titans Go! #11.
