From The Scoop: Jimmy Neutron

From the July 21 issue of Gemstone Publishing's The Scoop:
Jimmy Neutron isn't just a boy genius. He's also a TV and film star and an Academy Award nominee. Creators John A. Davis and Keith Alcorn first featured him in a 1995 40-minute short called Runaway Rocket Boy. At the time, his name was Johnny Quasar. By the time writer Steve Oedekerk got involved, Davis founded DNA productions with Alcorn, where the motley three polished and developed the short into a feature, tentatively titled The Adventures of Johnny Quasar. They first pitched the idea to Nickelodeon execs in 1997 and were greenlighted for a series pilot in the 1999 season.

The series, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, garnered an immediate fanbase. Kids and adults alike joined in to follow the exploits of Jimmy, his brilliant dog Goddard, his dumpy, loyal best friend Carl Wheezer, his brainy mom Judy and his not-so-brainy dad Hugh. By 2001, the space-dwelling prodigy made his way to the big screen in Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Made popular by its retro-futuristic 3-D computer animation, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron is sure to be a favorite for years to come.
