Free Comic Book Day Unfolds in Maxim!

The May 2005 issue of Maxim magazine features a profile of model/actress Mandy Amano that shines favorably on comic books and endorses Free Comic Book Day!

The daughter of Beckett Comics' Jeff Amano, Mandy has received a considerable amount of media attention this year from her eye-catching appearance in the Pepsi Super Bowl commercial for iTunes. Her Maxim profile in the "Hot Zone > TV" section of the May 2005 (#89) issue highlights her love of comics and drives readers to check out Free Comic Book Day.

"And on May 7 you can take Mandy home...for nothing!" the Maxim piece exhorts. "To celebrate Free Comic Book Day, stores around the U.S. will be giving away copies of Ronin Hood, featuring a character based on Mandy."

Described in her profile as a "comic book freak" who was "raised on a steady diet of superheroes," Mandy Amano has some flattering things to say about comic fandom. "Comic book fans are interesting, gentle people," she observes.

There's a comic book theme to this issue of Maxim, which sports 2 Collector's Edition covers -- one with exclusive Frank Miller art for Sin City, and one with a photo of Sin City's Shellie, Brittany Murphy. Readers are also treated to a full-page shot of a pajama-wearing Samuel L. Jackson studying a comic book by flashlight.

Maxim is the fastest growing general-interest magazine for men in America, with a circulation of over 2.5 million readers who will be getting the chance to hear about Free Comic Book Day!
