Free Comic Book Day Spotlight: Slave Labor Graphics!
Each day through the end of January, Diamond Daily will turn the
spotlight on a Silver Free Comic Book Day edition. We hope that this will allow
you to make the most informed buying decision when purchasing your FCBD
editions.
Remember: You must buy at least 25 copies of each Gold Sponsor title in order to be a participating retailer for FCBD 2003. You must also own a storefront business and agree to give away the comics on May 3, 2003.
A rock-solid mainstay of the alternative comics movement, Slave Labor Graphics has introduced to the industry some of the world's top cartoonists. Now you can turn customers onto a slew of these talented folks with Slave Labor Stories - FCBD Edition (JAN030038J, $0.23).
A Quick Synopsis:
Slave Labor's special Free Comic Book Day anthology will feature a new Milk & Cheese cover by Evan Dorkin as well as a new two-page Milk & Cheese strip. Other creators contributing new work to the comic include (but are not limited to) Andi Watson (Skeleton Key, Slow News Day), Norm Scott (Hsu & Chan), Kerry Callen (Halo & Sprocket), Ken Knudtsen (My Monkey's Name is Jennifer), Scott Saavedra (Comic Book Heaven), Jamie Smart (Bear, a new series coming in the summer from SLG), and Jhonen Vasquez.
The publication is designed by Scott Saavedra and includes a six-page section featuring current trade paperbacks which can be ordered from comic book stores.
Other contributors will be announced as they are confirmed.
Why It's Good for Free Comic Book Day (And You!):
A great way to introduce new customers to Slave Labor's line-up of talent, as well as a perfect tool to use to turn the interest of current customers to Slave Labor's line. And since the book contains each excerpted item's Star System code, it's easy to satisfy a customer's desire for the entire project in question!
This sampler doesn't just give you an opportunity to sell backlist, though - it also lets you build interest in Bear, a new, upcoming Slave Labor title by Jamie Smart that the publisher believes will be big. Bear kicks off in summer 2003, shortly after Free Comic Book Day, making this FCBD edition the perfect introduction!
How to Use It:
Hand this book out to newcomers who think comics are all rock-'em, sock-'em action; they'll see how wrong they are. Also, be sure to get them into the bags of your current indy readers who may not be familiar with Slave Labor's line.
Be sure to have the following titles in stock; the creator of each is represented in the Sampler:
