EXTRA: McFarlane Toys Acquires Simpsons Action Figure License!

The Image Comics-affiliated Todd McFarlane Productions (TMP) has announced its McFarlane Toys division has reached a licensing agreement with Fox Licensing & Merchandising to produce a new line of action figures based on Fox's world-famous, long-running animated series, The Simpsons.
Scheduled to debut this fall, TMP's first wave of Simpsons figures will be released as two different, multi-figure boxed sets. Each set will contain a different group of action figures, and will recreate a memorable moment from the TV show. Following those releases, a full line of Simpsons figures is scheduled for to ship throughout 2006.
Additionally, TMP/McFarlane Toys Founder and CEO/Spawn creator Todd McFarlane will be personally involved in the production process, working with The Simpsons creative team to capture their favorite iconic moments from the series.
"As a fan of The Simpsons since its very inception, I know our toy company will bring as much innovation to these new character products as Matt Groening and his crew have done all these years," said McFarlane. "My goal is to bring out very intriguing items that will reward the fans who have supported this show. We want to push the envelope so that the true essence of the show is captured."
