Dark Horse Releases First Images of Weta Narnia Collectibles
Dark Horse Comics has released pictures of products from Weta Collectibles
based on Walt Disney Pictures' and Walden Media's Chronicles of Narnia: The
Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, shown here for the first time by
Diamond!
Dark Horse and Weta -- a division of the Academy Award-winning New Zealand-based Weta Workshop responsible for the amazing visual effects of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy -- have already solicited numerous products based on this eagerly-anticipated film, including the Lion and Witch Bookends (JUN050059U) and the Girls on Aslan Statue (JUN050056U). The Orieus (JUL050064U) and General Otmin Statues (JUL050062U) are designed to be displayed together, recreating the intense battle for Narnia.
"In addition to their fabulous work on the actual film production, the artisans at Weta are bringing all of their skills forward on this line of consumer products," said Dark Horse Director of Distributed Products Rachelle Callaway, "and we believe these pieces will set a new standard for this important product category. They have selected challenging and striking poses for each statue, choosing exactly the right moment to freeze them in time, with a dramatic and touching result."
As originally solicited in Previews, the collectibles produced by Weta had been restricted to distribution in the United States only. But popular demand has opened the doors for expanded international distribution (excluding the U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Singapore) of the limited edition statues, maquettes and bookends based on Disney's adaptation of C.S. Lewis' epic Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, slated for release in theaters December 9.
