Comics & Classrooms: DC, ALA Announce Teen Titans Literacy Poster to Join Batman, Batgirl

Comics & Classrooms reports on schools, libraries, and teachers that are using comic books and related materials for educational purposes, which can in turn lead to sales and partnership opportunities for local retailers.

DC Comics and the American Library Association (ALA) have joined forces to promote literacy and libraries, and have called in the fan-favorite Teen Titans to help!

On October 17, DC and the ALA Graphics department will unveil a new ALA Graphics poster featuring the Teen Titans and the slogan "Avoid the rush! Return your library stuff on time!" The poster will feature original artwork created in cooperation with DC and will be available to libraries and fans alike at the ALA's website.

This is not the first time DC has pitched in with the ALA to promote reading to youngsters. Previous collaborations have produced a poster of Neil Gaiman's Sandman featuring art by P. Craig Russell, a Batgirl poster illustrated by Gene Ha, and the recently released Batman poster with art by fan favorite artist Alex Ross! (Please Note: The Batman poster is available for viewing and ordering at http://www.alastore.ala.org/SiteSolution.taf?_sn=catalog&_pn=product_detail&_op=1840.

The posters sell for $13.00 and bookmarks (with 100 to a pack) sell for $7.50. All can be purchased online at the ALA's online shop www.alastore.ala.org or by calling toll-free 866-746-7252.
