DST Signs Stargate SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis License!
Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles (DST) and MGM have announced a new
license agreement for action figures based on the popular, long-lived SCI FI
series, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis!
“The Stargate universe is a perfect match for DST,” said Diamond Select Director Chuck Terceira. “We know the fans will love our attention to detail and commitment to delivering their favorite characters right from the show. Stargate has been incredibly successful and we knew it was time to take advantage of both shows' continuing popularity.”
Stargate SG-1 is currently airing its ninth season on SCI FI as part of the cable network's “Sci-Fi Friday” lineup, while Stargate: Atlantis has entered its second season. Both series have received critical acclaim for their writing, acting, special effects and more. With no signs of slowing down, and exceeding 2 million viewers per episode, there's no apparent end in sight for Stargate.
“We are delighted to partner with Diamond Select Toys to bring a range of Stargate action figures to market,” said MGM Consumer Products & Location-Based Entertainment Executive Vice President Travis Rutherford. “Their quality and attention to detail are renowned and make them the perfect partner for our premium sci-fi franchise.”
The master sculptors of Jean St. Jean Studios and Plan B will provide highly detailed sculpts for the Stargate lines based on the series' stars, including Richard Dean Anderson, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge. Specific product announcements, as well as timetables for their release dates, will be featured in upcoming issues of Diamond Daily, Diamond Dateline and Diamond Dialogue.
