NEW VARIANT ALERT: Marvel Releases Images of Amazing Spider-Man #528 Free Retailer Sketch Variant

Last week, Marvel Comics announced a free Amazing Spider-Man #528 Retailer Sketch Variant Cover (NOV058056J) as special thanks for making its Spider-Man: The Other a runaway hit. Now, images of that cover -- and other variants -- have been released!

This special variant edition of Amazing Spider-Man #528 (NOV051942D) sports a sketch cover by Mike Wieringo of the cult-favorite character Spider-Ham, Marvel's anthropomorphic answer to the wall-crawling web-slinger. The Sketch Variant Cover will ship free to retailers in a 1:36 ratio based on initial orders for the regular edition of Amazing Spider-Man #528, which is eligible for order increases through its Final Order Cut-Off (FOC) Date of Thursday, January 5.

This Spider-Ham Sketch Variant will be automatically distributed free to accounts based on the 1:36 ratio mentioned above; retailers do not need to order the Sketch Variant separately. Details on other, previously announced incentive variants are given below. Second Printing variants have proven to be almost as popular as the initial printings, with the first six Variants having already sold out. Marvel has no third printings planned for this series.

Retailers are able to order parts seven through nine in whatever quantities they want, while the final three chapters will be 1:8 ratio incentive variants, similar to recent New Avengers and House of M variants.

• Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #3 Second Printing (OCT058207D), Chapter 7: Boasting a Cosmic Spider-Man cover, this issue is slated to arrive in shipments January 11.

• Marvel Knights Spider-Man #21 Second Printing (OCT058214D), Chapter 8: Sporting an Armored Spider-Man cover, this issue is slated to arrive in shipments January 11.

• Amazing Spider-Man #527 Second Printing (OCT058215D), Chapter 9: Featuring a Spider-Man 2099 cover, this issue is slated to arrive in shipments January 11.

The issues listed directly below are incentive variants, ordered in a ratio of one variant for every eight copies ordered. Both initial orders and order increases can be combined to receive even more copies of the variants. Details on the 1:8 ratio incentive variants are as follows:

• Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #4 Variant (OCT058216D), Chapter 10: Based on combined orders for Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #4 (NOV051940D) and sporting a Wrestler Peter Parker cover, this issue is slated to arrive in shipments January 18.

• Marvel Knights Spider-Man #22 Variant (OCT058217D), Chapter 11: Based on combined orders for Marvel Knights Spider-Man #22 (NOV051941D) and sporting a new, variant Peter Parker cover, this issue carries a Final Order Cut-Off (FOC) Date of today, December 28, with an on-sale date of January 18.

• Amazing Spider-Man #528 Variant (OCT058218D), Chapter 12: Based on combined orders for Amazing Spider-Man #528 and sporting a new, variant Spider-Ham cover selected by retailers, this issue carries a Final Order Cut-Off (FOC) Date of Thursday, January 5, with an on-sale date of January 25.
