DC Direct Announces Collectors DVDs for Weta Superman Returns Collectibles
This summer, DC Comics’ Man of Steel flies back to the big screen in Warner Bros.’ Superman Returns, and DC Direct will capture key moments from the motion picture in its Weta Superman Returns Statues... and has announced extremely limited, exclusive collectors DVDs for all four!
Documenting how Weta Workshop’s artisans worked with director Bryan Singer to design and sculpt these stunning collectibles, the DVDs are limited to 6,500 pieces and come packaged in each Superman Returns Statue from Weta. Including interviews and footage available nowhere else, each DVD is unique to the statue in which it is packaged, and features details on the inspiration for the piece, scenes from the set and a mini-documentary on the creation of that individual sculpture.
Currently slated to ship June 28, DC Direct’s Weta Superman Returns Statues carry an Order Increase Cut-off (OIC) Date of Monday, May 10. Details on the statues are as follows:
• Weta Superman Returns: Daily Planet Statue (APR060313X): Limited to 2,500 pieces, this 20” x 12” x 8” collectible depicts Superman and Lois Lane in flight above the Daily Planet globe.
• Weta Superman Returns: Returning Son Statue (APR060314X): Capturing Kal-El’s return to Earth, cradled in his mother’s arms, this statue stands 20” x 12” x 8” and is limited to 500 pieces.
• Weta Superman Returns: Fallen Hero Statue (APR060315X): Lex Luthor stands, seemingly triumphant, over a fallen Superman in this 22” x 19” x 16” sculpture, limited to 1,500 pieces.
• Weta Superman Returns: Disaster Averted Statue (APR060316X): Superman saves Metropolis once again in this statue (actual dimensions to be announced), limited to 2000 pieces.
Superman Returns promises to be one of the biggest blockbusters in recent years, and demand for merchandise tied to the film should only grow stronger as opening day approaches.
