Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest Opens at #1 with $132 Million Weekend
This weekend, Walt Disney Pictures’ film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest opened at #1 with a record-breaking $132 million box office take, and retailers can capitalize on the excitement with products from Diamond!
The sequel to 2003’s smash-hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Dead Man’s Chest looks to up the ante this summer with even more swashbuckling action and supernatural intrigue than before. The film is once again directed by Gore Verbinski with Jerry Bruckheimer serving as executive producer. Reprising their roles in Dead Man’s Chest are Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner and Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Swann. Also along for the ride are Bill Nighy as the sea devil Davy Jones and Stellan Starsgård as Will’s father, Bootstrap Bill Turner. Curse of the Black Pearl had an incredible run at the box office with $653 million in worldwide receipts. If the weekend success of that film is any indication, Dead Man’s Chest will play in theaters for quite some time.
