Diamond Bookmark, NACAE to Share Content, Resources

This August, the National Association of Comic Art Educators (NACAE) will re-launch its website to feature all-new content, including new lesson plans, interviews, printable handouts, study guides and much more. In addition, the organization has entered into an agreement with the Diamond Bookmark, Diamond’s monthly educational email newsletter, to feature exclusive NACAE content!

Each month, the Diamond Bookmark will highlight one NACAE feature with a special “NACAE Spotlight” tag that will appear in the headline of the applicable articles. Inside each NACAE Spotlight article, Bookmark readers will be given the opportunity to learn more about the NACAE and how to contribute to the site. Conversely, visitors to the NACAE website will be able to sign up and become subscribers to the Diamond Bookmark.

“This is an exciting partnership that will not only benefit both parties involved, but will help educators across the web” said Diamond’s Education Specialist and Bookmark Editor Keith Chow. “Pointing our readers to the NACAE site -- and vice versa -- allows everyone to reach as many educators as possible.”

“Representing the interests of comics artists and enthusiasts in a way that is accessible and practical for educators will be significantly improved by the relationship forged between NACAE and Diamond," added NACAE Steering Committee member and teacher Joanna Boyd Richards who specializes in gifted education and administration.

For its August re-launch, the new NACAE website will feature Christian Hill’s interview with Michael Bitz of the Comic Book Project as well as a brand new lesson plan using Drawn & Quarterly’s Harvey Award-winning Louis Riel: A Comic Strip Biography by comic creator Tom Hart (Hutch Owen). Over the coming months, the NACAE website will feature contributions from noted comics luminaries such as James Sturm, James Kochalka, Ivan Brunetti, Dan Nadel and many more. Other contributors include K-12 educators across the country as well as teachers from such institutes of higher learning as the Center for Cartoon Studies, the Savannah College of Art and Design, Appalachian State University, California State University - Fullerton and NortheasternUniversity.

The National Association of Comic Art Educators is an organization dedicated to helping facilitate the teaching of comics. The NACAE's website objective is to be a resource where the growing number of educators in comic art/sequential art can get and share ideas. Moreover, educators who work in other disciplines can use comics as a way of furthering their own objectives.
