Gemstone Announces Improved Discount for EC Archives
Making its hotly anticipated new line more lucrative than ever, Gemstone Publishing has announced it is improving the discount on its EC Archives HC series, changing to an “E” discount (lower of 50% or standard discount) from the previous “F” discount (lower of 45% or standard discount), beginning with the EC Archives: Weird Science Volume 1 HC (AUG063318E), shipping next week from Diamond!
As a result, all retailers who ordered the first EC Archives will be invoiced at the “E” discount when it arrives next week. Additionally, all orders for previously solicited EC Archives will also fill at the “E” discount, as will all future orders. Finally, EC Archives will be solicited with an “E” discount in future Previews solicitations.
EC Comics titles featured some of the most memorable writing and artwork ever released in comic books, attracting a fanatically enthusiastic following. Published by Bill Gaines and edited by Al Feldstein, the science fiction-themed Weird Science was one of EC’s most popular titles in the early ‘50s. For the first time in hardcover, the debut EC Archives volume collects Weird Science’s initial six issues, featuring art from industry legends such as Wally Wood, Harvey Kurtzman, Joe Orlando, Jack Kamen, Feldstein and others, with an introduction by Star Wars creator George Lucas.
Future releases in Gemstone’s EC Archives line include the Shock SuspenStories Volume One HC (SEP063328E), which ships November 15; the Tales from the Crypt Volume One HC (OCT063431E), offered in the October Previews; and the November-solicited Two-Fisted Tales Volume One HC, with more editions coming in 2007.
