Cartoon Network has announced that .hack//Roots (pronounced “dot hack”) will make its debut on Cartoon Network this month, and retailers can take advantage of the premiere by stocking their shelves with all of the related titles from TOKYOPOP!

Starting this month, anime fans will want to set their TiVos to catch all the action of .hack//Roots, set to air Saturday mornings at 5:00 a.m. A follow-up to the popular .hack//SIGN and .hack//Legend of the Twilight animes, the new series is sure to draw in fans ready for what the futuristic, computer-dominated society and its Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), The World, have in store for the characters.

Produced by Bee Train and broadcast on TV Tokyo this year, the 26-episode .hack//Roots takes place seven years after the events of the first wave of .hack video games, and serves as a prequel to the new .hack//G.U. video games for the PlayStation 2 console. In 2015, a fire destroys the CC Corporation. By splicing together elements from other games the CC Corp is able to release The World R:2, a new version of the all-encompassing game with all-new perils and adventures.
