XOMBIE: DEAD ON ARRIVAL GN

Imagine if you will, Alice in Wonderland meets Army of Darkness; or how about Coraline vs. Night of the Living Dead. This will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect from Xombie: Dead on Arrival. This charming gore-fest from creator James Farr is inspired by the works of horror luminaries George A. Romero, Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, and Forrest J. Ackerman — and, let me tell you, it really shows!

In the not-too-distant future, a bizarre virus is introduced into the Earth’s atmosphere, and soon the dead begin to rise from the grave, infused with superhuman strength. And as if this wasn’t bad enough, these zombies are really, really hungry for the flesh of the living!

Zoe, our misplaced junior heroine, has no memory of her life before the Zombie holocaust, yet must navigate the horrific undead landscape in hopes of finding her way to the nearest human settlement. Along the way, she is reluctantly rescued by Dirge, a hulking resurrected dead man who, through a strange turn of events, still retains glimpses of his fleeting humanity. Dirge and his faithful patchwork zombie dog, Cerberus, take Zoe under their rotting “wing” and agree to escort the her to safety.

Our band of misfit heroes meet up with abhorrent undead horrors at every turn: leering killer clowns, rotting circus animals, a rather well-preserved, zombified velociraptor, and a mysterious Egyptian femme fatale named Nephthys. Xombie: Dead on Arrival positively brims with marvelously creepy prose, vivid illustrations, and dark delights for every reader. Can you dig it?
