Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo

No caption. The comics and pop culture convention C2E2, set for April 16-18 at McCormick Place in Chicago, will debut with a wealth of programming for librarians, educators and comics aficionados of all ages.

C2E2 is an expansion of Reed Exhibitions’ annual conventions which include New York Comic Con, Book Expo America and others. Located in the same city as the American Library Association, C2E2 has a unique opportunity to focus on graphic novels in libraries, reflected in the show’s programming listed below.

The convention also hosts the Institute for Comics Studies’ Comics Studies Conference, where scholars will present their academic work related to comics. Topics include Comics and Visual Language, Subversive Comics, Literary Analysis, Superhero Justice, Crossing Cultures, Teaching and Comics, and more.

More information about the annual Comics Studies Conference is available here.

C2E2 will also feature a special screening of the documentary Comic Book Literacy. This will take place on Sunday at 1:45 in room E271A. Read our interview with filmmaker Todd Kent here.

Sunday, April 18 is Kids Day. Children age 12 and under will be admitted free and treated to a host of workshops and special programs just for kids. See here for more information about Kids Day.
