high performance art." And that's putting it mildly.
For those of us who lived the gonzo lifestyle, Pee-Wee's Playhouse was essential brain food that went great with our munchies. The colors. Oh, the colors! It was campy Batman schlock mixed with clips from vintage cartoons, old educational films (don't forget, kids, duck-and-cover), 3-D animation, hand puppets, marionettes, and a cast of eccentric characters that even included the legendary Phil Hartman! And not only did we dig it, but so did our little brother or sister!
The show ran from 1986 until 1991, but you can have it running as long as you like with the Pee-Wee's Playhouse Volumes 1 & 2 DVD Sets. Between the two sets, you can watch all 45 episodes that aired back in the day.
