Spawn Kills God

In a far distant age of a world not our own, the Old Gods are dying, slaughtered one by one by the dark blade of a mysterious, unearthly marauder. The shadowy twilight of death has begun to take hold. It is clear that this is a terminally ill world, a bleak and diseased place. It has become a scorched Earth in the eternal war between good and evil. There are only a few places left capable of supporting life, and sadly there is a shortage of tour guides.

Endra-La, oldest of the Shrouded Isles is one such safe haven, as it has avoided the cruel fate suffered by lesser kingdoms thanks to the protection of the goddess Llyra. This small outpost of humanity gets a rare chance to celebrate as they prepare for a royal wedding. The celebration is short lived, unfortunately, as black sails are spotted on the horizon. The mood of joy quickly mutates to a horrified panic as the alarms are sounded! A cry emits, “The Godslayer has come for us at last!”

The men of Endra-La steel themselves with grim looks upon their faces. These brave warriors, the last vanguards of man, prepare to attempt to repulse a demonic invasion, even though they are resigned to death. There simply is no place left to run, and so the best one can do is try to die as a hero.

Spawn: Godslayer is a dramatic re-imagining of Todd McFarlane’s Spawn set in a world of swords and sorcery that is sure to appeal to fans of epic fantasies like Elric, Conan, and J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. This book will answer the age old question of “what would a hellspawn do in a medieval world?” Okay, so most die-hard fans probably don’t need to read the book in order to answer that question. They know the answer means he is going to kill a lot of people in brutal ways. Ah, but there is still theater to be enjoyed in this horror. Not to mention, longtime veteran scribe Brian Holguin (The Magic of Aria, Kiss Psycho Circus) and the pencils of Jay Anacleto(Tales of Darkness, The Magic of Aria) help make  Spawn: Godslayer a must-read.
