Dark Horse Romances Readers with Harlequin Manga

Over 50 million Americans read romance novels, with more than 90% of those being women. Harlequin Romances have dominated the market for decades, and now Dark Horse Comics teams with the top-selling publisher for the Harlequin Ginger Blossom series of manga aimed at female readers hungry for a little romance.

Harlequin Pink: A Girl in a Million TP and Harlequin Violet: Response TP blend the traditional romance novel with the wildly-popular manga format, a marriage made in Heaven for fans of female-friendly fiction. Another innovation for this series is color-coding of the covers to designate target ages of readers. Betty Neels' Harlequin Pink: A Girl in a Million TP (SEP050013, $9.95) is sweetly romantic, aimed at all ages and sensibilities, a tale of a young woman wooing an older man, while Harlequin Violet: Response TP (SEP050014, $9.95) by Penny Jordan is a more sophisticated and sexier romance about love in the workplace, not intended for younger readers.

Both 160-page trade paperbacks are printed in the smaller manga format, in black and white, and are scheduled to ship December 7.
