Dark Horse Zaps Collectors with Weta’s Retro Rayguns
Dark Horse Comics propels collectors back to the future with three original, retro-style science fiction props with Weta Workshop’s Dr. Grordbort’s Infallible Aether Oscillator Rayguns!
Designed by Weta’s Greg Broadmore and constructed by Master Model Maker David Tremont, these pistol-like props recall the laser-spewing weaponry of Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and other interstellar adventurers from the Golden Age of sci-fi. Boasting clear tubes filled with exotic elixirs, antennae, mysterious mechanisms and curious contraptions, each of these extremely limited collectibles is sure to score with fans of old-school space tales.
First, the FMOM Industries Wave Disrupter Gun (MAR07 0085, $690) offers a sleek, finned version of the traditional laser, complete with delicate coolant tubing and energy dispersal barrels. Then, the Manmelter 3600ZX Sub-Atomic Disintegrator Pistol (MAR07 0086, $690) presents a squat, bulkier blaster featuring an open trigger area and top-mounted baffles. Finally, the Goliathon 83 Infinity Beam Projector (MAR07 0087, $690) portrays a more traditional raygun, with side dials, barrel mufflers and a rear-mounted energy containment tube. Each gun comes in a unique 18” x 12” x 4.5” display case with molded interiors and a fact sheet on Grordbert’s Aether Oscillators.
All three Weta Rayguns are scheduled to ship June 13.
