Dark Horse Offers Festival of Frazetta
For decades, Frank Frazetta has been regarded as the grand master of
fantasy art in a variety of media. This summer, Dark Horse Comics will
inaugurate a new series of licensed Frazetta products based on the many works of
this visionary artist.
From his early days illustrating text stories and comics to his emergence as one of the key painters of science-fiction and fantasy subjects, Frazetta's distinctive talents have earned him millions of fans. These new presentations of the artist's works -- many of which were created with Frazetta's help -- should quickly find a receptive audience among those collectors.
Three Frazetta-inspired items are offered this month:
• The Frazetta Death Dealer Mini Statue (MAY030052, $59.99) will be a 6"-tall, fully painted, highly detailed version of the sold-out sculpture by fan-favorite Randy Bowen. Created by special arrangement with the artist, the mini statue will ship in a full-color box. (Please Note: The price of $64.99 given for this item in the May Previews Order Form is incorrect.)
• The Frazetta Man: The Endangered Species Bronze Statue (MAY030053, $1,800.00) will re-create Frazetta's classic cover to L. Ron Hubbard's Battlefield Earth as a 12-1/2"-high x 18"-long x 9"-wide bronze statue by Jeffery Scott and Gentle Giant Studios. The statue -- created with the supervision and approval of Frazetta and Hubbard's international rights agency -- will be mounted on a deluxe base and be limited to just 50 pieces worldwide.
• The Frazetta Warrior Woman Zippo Lighter (MAY030054, $29.99) will be the first in a series of collectible Zippo lighters decorated with Frazetta images. This brushed chrome lighter will bear one of the master's signature female images, making it a truly "hot" commodity. (Look for more Frazetta Photo Zippo Lighters in the months to come!)
The lighter is scheduled to ship on July 30, followed by the bronze statue on August 14, and the mini statue on September 10.
