Classics Are Back At BOOM! As Uncle Scrooge Celebrates Anniversary

Uncle Scrooge #400

This winter, BOOM! Studios marks two monumental anniversaries — Walt Disney's Comics & Stories celebrates its 70th anniversary, and Uncle Scrooge reaches issue #400 — by announcing that "Classics Are Back at BOOM!"

The celebration begins in January with the release of Walt Disney's Comics & Stories #715 (NOV100833F, $3.99) and Mickey Mouse #304 (NOV100830F, $3.99), which feature some of Disney's most celebrated creators such as Carl Barks, Don Rosa, Daan Jippes, and Floyd Gottfredson, and two releases in February continue the celebration — Donald Duck #363 (DEC100834F, $3.99) and the landmark Uncle Scrooge #400 (Regular Edition: DEC100845F, $3.99; Deluxe Edition: DEC100846F, $6.99)!

Ever since Scrooge McDuck's first appearance in Carl Barks's "Christmas on Bear Mountain" in 1947's Four Color Comics #178, the penny-pinching miser has been one of Disney's most popular characters, and with appearances in Mickey's Christmas Carol and DuckTales one of the most recognized as well. BOOM!'s Uncle Scrooge #400 pays tribute to the Duckburg cheapskate and Duck family patriarch with an oversized 40-page issue stuffed with classic stories featuring the amazing talents of Barks, Don Rosa, Daan Jippes, and Giorgio Cavazzano, including some stories that have never been published in the United States!

"The stories you'll find in Uncle Scrooge #400 are truly some of the rarest and greatest Scrooge tales ever published," said BOOM! Marketing Director Chip Mosher. "Fans demanded classic Scrooge tales, and trust me when I say there's no better place to start than Uncle Scrooge #400. How can you go wrong with Carl Barks, or Daan Jippes, or any of the amazing creators in this book?"

In this milestone 400th issue, don't miss the incomparable Barks appearing as himself and actually meeting Scrooge McDuck and his clan in Duckburg! It's a heartwarming tribute to Scrooge's creator by modern master Giorgio Cavazzano in "The Duck Man." Next, watch in awe as the witch, Magica de Spell, finally gets her hands on Scrooge's Number One Dime in the classic story "Obsession," seeing print in the U.S. for the first time, with art by master artist Daan Jippes! Then delight at three… count 'em, three… one-page gags by the one and only Carl Barks himself that appeared in the very first issue of Dell Comics' Uncle Scrooge — "Osogood Silver Polish," "Coffee for Two," and "Soupline Eight."

Shipping with three covers sure to please hardcore and casual fans alike, Uncle Scrooge #400 features a Regular Edition (DEC100845F, $3.99) wraparound cover by Don Rosa and a Deluxe Edition (DEC100846F, $6.99) with a painted cover by Carl Barks that reproduces his famous oil painting, "Money Lake."

Donald Duck #363

The anniversary celebration continues in the pages of Donald Duck #363, featuring the unrivaled talents of Carl Barks, Geoffrey Blum, Daan Jippes, and Carlos Mota! Classic Donald tales abound in this oversized 40-page issue filled with feathered hijinks no Donald fan will want to miss!

Inside the covers fans will find presented for the first time in the U.S. the much-requested 1997 Barks story — recently redrawn by Jippes in the Barks style — titled "Somewhere Beyond Nowhere." Plus, Barks's classic "Mystery of the Loch" is reprinted for the first time in English in 16 years! Finally, the fan-favorite Geoffrey Blum/Carlos Mota "Saga of Captain Duckburg" might even feature Duck master Barks himself!

Donald Duck #363 (DEC100834F, $3.99) ships with a never-before-seen cover for "Mystery of the Loch" by the legendary Don Rosa as well as a 1-in-10 Variant (DEC100835J, free) featuring a reproduction of the Carl Barks oil painting entitled "Slow Boat to Duckburg."

The "Classics Are Back at BOOM!" beginning this January, and these two anniversary releases are sure to captivate any fan of Disney's Ducks!
