IDW Goes Back to Press with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 & #2, Star Trek #1

FIRST TWO TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ISSUES GO TO 3RD PRINTINGS

TMNT #1 CoverThe heroes in a half-shell still know how to excite comic readers and retailers alike it appears, as IDW Publishing is heading back to press to offer third printings of both Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (AUG118097E, $3.99) and #2 (AUG118103E, $3.99) in order to meet demand. Both carry an FOC date of this Monday, October 10. The new printing of issue #1 is scheduled to go on sale November 2, while issue #2 will be released November 16.

“The response to the debut issue of the series has been phenomenal,” said Greg Goldstein, IDW’s chief operating officer. “We are grateful to all the old and new Turtles fans who are supporting this series so strongly, and will be delivering the second printing as soon as possible.”

"WOW! What a wonderful welcome back," said co-creator Kevin Eastman. "Although this never could have been possible without such amazing and creative teams at Nickelodeon and IDW to work with, NONE of it would have been possible without the love and support of such amazing TMNT fans!"

IDW’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles offers a brand-new take on the original series, led by TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman and co-writer Tom Waltz (Silent Hill: Past Life, Infestation: Outbreak).

"When I first started working on IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with Kevin Eastman, Dan Duncan, and the rest of the IDW and Nickelodeon TMNT crew, I was excited and very optimistic about the possibilities. I mean, all the pieces were in place for a successful reboot," said Waltz.  "But to have fans and retailers jump onboard in such huge numbers -- and in such a positive fashion -- has far exceeded even my own lofty expectations for our ongoing series.  It's already been an exciting ride and I couldn't be happier or more thankful.  And, knowing what we have lined up for future issues, I can honestly say the best is yet to come!"

This first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series features new and exciting storylines that maintain the “turtle power” core beloved by millions of fans. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael reunite to bring their ninja aptitude and teenage attitude to these action-packed adventures. The first arc tells the origin story of the Turtles and introduces a new villain, the fearsome mutant alley cat, Old Hob.

As a reminder, IDW will also collect Mirage Studio’s original series later this fall with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Ultimate Collection HC Volumes 1 (JUN110375E, $49.99) and 2 (SEP110279E, $49.99).

STAR TREK #1 BOLDLY GOING TO 2ND PRINTING

Within hours of release, IDW Publishing and CBS Consumer Products announced that Star Trek #1, the debut issue of a brand new chapter in the new Star Trek universe, is sold out. IDW is thus offering retailers a Star Trek Ongoing #1 Second Printing (AUG118085E, $3.99), which carries an FOC date of October 10 and is scheduled to go on sale November 2.

Guided by Star Trek writer/producer Roberto Orci, this new series explores the vast implications of the alternate timeline created by the 2009 film.

"Movies cost money. Lots and lots of money," said Orci. "But comics give us unlimited budgets to take the crew of the Enterprise farther than they've ever been."

The adventures of the Starship Enterprise continue with the new cast from the film as they embark on missions that re-imagine select stories from the original television series, along with new threats and characters never seen before. Under the creative direction of Orci, fan-favorite Star Trek writer Mike Johnson and artist Stephen Molnar bring this alternate universe to life and begin the countdown to the highly anticipated Star Trek sequel. The series kicks off with a dramatic new envisioning of The Original Series second pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before." The conclusion of this reimagined episode will be available in October. In November, the adventures of the new Enterprise crew continue with a new take on the classic episode "The Galileo 7," as Mr. Spock finds himself in command of a stranded shuttle crew fighting for survival.

"Finally, new Star Trek comics that showcase the new Enterprise crew," said editor Scott Dunbier. "The only thing more fun than reading them is editing them."
