Latest Diamond BookShelf Offers Educators, Librarians - and Retailers - Invaluable Resources

BookShelf Issue 10The August update of Diamond's BookShelf website is now available, featuring recent comic industry news of relevance to educators and librarians, special educational articles, upcoming events for schools and libraries, and much more.

The BookShelf website is one of Diamond's innovative efforts to foster the growth and acceptance of comics and graphic novels, providing a wealth of resource information and encouraging librarians and teachers to visit their local comic shops. Additionally, it is an excellent tool for retailers currently in partnership with local schools and libraries, or for those who wish to explore such opportunities.

The website's content for this month includes:

  • Interviews with Andrew Carl and Chris Stevens, editors of Dark Horse Comics' Once Upon a Time Machine, Matt Dembicki, creator of Oni Press' Xoc: The Journey of a Great White, and Jeff Lemire, creator of Top Shelf Productions' The Underwater Welder
  • A guide to graphic novels featuring sharks
  • New reviews and lesson plans
  • Core titles
  • Much more!

To help make the search for comic shops easier and more convenient, BookShelf has now partnered with the Comic Shop Locator Service web site to create a School and Library Partners badge. Comic stores with this badge have told us they are willing to work with libraries and schools. This could mean help with stocking comics and graphic novels, putting together programming, offering educational presentations, buying at a discount and more. Librarians and educators looking for a store to partner with can search their local area by simply typing in their address or zip code. For stores who'd like more information or to participate, please consult your Diamond Customer Service Representative.

To learn what's new for comics in the growing education and library markets, retailers are encouraged to visit www.DiamondBookShelf.com and sign up for the monthly BookShelf e-newsletter.
