Archie Starts Kevin Keller's Story with Veronica #207 Variant
When Archie Comics introduced Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in Riverdale, in the pages of Veronica #202, fan and retailer response as well as widespread media attention led to the issue quickly selling out and warranted Archie's first second printing.
This June, Archie is giving readers a chance to learn more about Kevin by giving him his own mini-series, Veronica Presents: Kevin Keller from writer/artist Dan Parent, which will take over Veronica beginning with the April-solicited Veronica #207 (APR110800E, $2.99).
Retailers should note that to celebrate this milestone issue, Archie will be offering a Veronica #207 (Kevin Keller #1) Variant (FEB118105E, $2.99) that was not shown or mentioned in PREVIEWS or listed in April's Order Form.
No order qualifiers or special terms apply to this variant, so you may order as many copies as desired. The cover for this version is shown here, and it carries an Order Cut-Off (OIC) date of May 2. Your orders for the regular edition of Veronica #207 are due by the April PREVIEWS Online Initial Order cut-off date of next Thursday, April 28. Both versions are currently scheduled to go on sale on June 8.
"The world of Riverdale has to reflect contemporary culture and to show it is an accepting, diverse place," Parent told The Associated Press. "And that's why Kevin is important, to show that everybody is welcome in this all-American town we've embraced for over 70 years."
Be sure to order both versions of Veronica #207, so you have plenty of copies of this story's first chapter for customers that enjoyed the addition of Kevin to the Archie family and want to learn more about his backstory. And be sure to tell your customers that express interest in Veronica #207 to look for Veronica #208 (MAY110836E, $2.99) and its Variant Cover (MAY110837E, $2.99) on page 233 in May's PREVIEWS, scheduled to go on sale April 27.
