Image Pitches Horrific Game with Sullivan’s Sluggers

A minor league team answers the call to “play ball” against a truly killer team in Image Comics’ sports/horror graphic novel Sullivan’s Sluggers (JUN100400D, $16.99), offered in the June PREVIEWS.

Writer Mark Andrew Smith (Amazing Joy Buzzards, Aqua Leung, New Brighton Archeological Society) and artist James Stokoe (Orc Stain) are revered for their kinetic, offbeat stories. This grisly spin on America’s pastime should hold great interest for anyone who enjoys stories about the game, and for fans of horror comics with “lots of red splatter and juicy monster gizzards” – something Stokoe promises to deliver here.

The deadly game begins when Sullivan's bedraggled minor league sluggers accept an invitation to play an out-of-town game. But they don’t know something important about their destination: it’s cursed. And when the sun goes down, the dysfunctional team finds itself running for home in a different way as the town crawls with flesh-eating monsters.

The 176-page, full-color thriller is solicited to ship on August 11.
