DC/Vertigo Unleashes New Edition TPs of Gaiman’s Sandman Saga

New versions of multiple award-winning author Neil Gaiman’s seminal horror saga The Sandman are now available in Trade Paperbacks from DC Comics/Vertigo, including Volume 1: Preludes & Nocturnes (JUL100259D, $19.99), Volume 2: The Doll’s House (JUL100260D, $19.99) and Volume 3: Dream Country (JUL100261D, $19.99).

Boasting covers by Dave McKean, these New Edition Trade Paperbacks feature the improved production value and enhanced coloring from the Absolute Edition (AUG060280X, $99).

The series won Bram Stoker and World Fantasy Awards, as well as a nomination for a Hugo. In its pages, readers also met Death, Dream’s sexy older sibling, and other members of The Endless like Destiny, Desire and Delirium. Collecting issues #1 – #8, Preludes & Nocturnes begins with an occultist attempting to capture Death trapping Death's younger brother Dream instead. After his 70-year imprisonment and eventual escape, Morpheus goes on a quest for his lost objects of power. On his arduous journey, Morpheus encounters Lucifer, John Constantine and an all-powerful madman. This book also includes the story "The Sound of Her Wings" which introduces the pragmatic, perky Death.

No caption. In the new, recolored edition of The Doll’s House featuring The Sandman #9 – #16, Morpheus tracks down three dreams who escaped world, while a young woman searches for her little brother. As their stories converge, a vortex threatens dreamers worldwide.

Volume 3 collects issues #17 – #20 – including "A Midsummer Night's Dream," which won a World Fantasy Award – and boasts new cover art and trade dress.

Solicited in the October PREVIEWS is The Sandman TP Volume 4: Seasons of the Mist New Edition (OCT100330D, $19.99). Future volumes are planned for the remainder of Gaiman’s series.
