Fillbach Brothers Donate Save Our Libraries Poster to the American Library Association

Poster now available for free download.

Washington D.C. One of the many highlights during the recent Annual Conference for the American Library Association was the presentation by the Fillbach Brothers of the Save Our Libraries poster they created to help raise awareness of the plight of funding for library systems across the nation. The poster was made available in a free, downloadable format and is now posted to the ALA website. Included in the artwork is a space at the bottom where librarians can add contact information for their local, state and federal officials.

Emily Sheketoff, Executive Director of the ALA Washington Office was excited to receive the artwork on behalf of the ALA, "The Fillbach brothers' illustration truly captures the faces of library users from across the country -- people of all ages and backgrounds who depend on their local libraries to find jobs, access the Internet, play games, borrow books and DVDs, participate in a book club and more. We were excited to see such well-known illustrators use their creative talent to help increase awareness about the plight of libraries, which continue to face devastating budget cuts that endanger their very ability to serve their communities. We believe this poster will inspire the public to tell their local officials how important library services are to them."

According to John Shableski, sales manager for Diamond, "The theme for the poster borrows from the Smokey Bear campaign and empowers kids with the idea that they can take action and participate in the saving of their own library."

The Fillbach Brothers(Matt & Shawn) hail from Butte, Montana, home of the "richest hill on Earth" and birthplace of Evel Knieval. The brothers draw STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS series for Dark Horse Comics, and describe themselves as "a magnificent factory of stories and ideas." Country music is their passion, spaghetti westerns their obsession, & NASCAR their sport of choice. With their graphic novels MAXWELL STRANGEWELL and ROADKILL: A JIM KOWALSKI ADVENTURE, both published by Dark Horse, the Fillbach's continue onward and upward with more books to come, including the newly released series WEREWOLVES ON THE MOON: VERSUS VAMPIRES, co-created with Dave Land. Coming soon will be the graphic novels CAPTAIN FREEBIRD, QUICK DRAW and VALLEY OF THE GUN.

The Fillbach Brothers currently reside in the living cartoon that is Las Vegas, Nevada, where they also write & draw educational comic books for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
